About us

The Clean Air Department protects people from excessive air pollution, noise pollution, and radiation exposure. One of the ways the Department does this is by monitoring the state of the environment through data collection at various locations throughout the canton. The Department also makes action plans to improve the quality of the environment and to implement the provisions of federal and cantonal environmental legislation. The goal is to mitigate and prevent pollution through remedial action and precautionary measures. Municipalities also receive support from the Department in reviewing planning applications, including assistance and advice.
