Statistics on accidents and criminal offenses in the canton of Zug are compiled annually. The ‘Police Statistics’ brochure provides an in-depth insight into the diverse work of the police and gives important information about the safety of our canton.

Accident trends

In 2023, Zug had 649 traffic accidents. That is 93 fewer accidents than the year before. Two people died in road accidents, and three others sustained life-threatening injuries. Additionally, 75 people sustained serious injuries, and 250 had minor injuries. Bicycle accidents increased slightly from 122 to 133 compared to the previous year.

Crime trends

Recorded crimes increased by 36%, totaling 8,097, compared to the previous year's 6,045. There were notable increases in crimes against life and limb (25%), property crimes (34%), and cybercrimes (74%). Brawls/attacks (+190%), assaults (+15%), and battery (+14%) contributed significantly to the rise in crimes against life and limb.
