Healthcare System
The healthcare system in Switzerland is very well organised. Health and accident insurance is compulsory, and therefore all residents are comprehensively insured against illness and accidents. Numerous doctors, pharmacies, and hospitals ensure medical care.

Health and Accident Insurance
Anyone living in Switzerland must have health and accident insurance. These private insurances cover the costs of illness, accidents, and pregnancy.
Both insurances must be taken out within three months of entering the country.

Medical Care
Persons who are ill or have had an accident should usually consult a family doctor first. For minor health concerns, advice and treatment from a pharmacy may be sufficient. Only in the case of a serious emergency should one go directly to hospital.
