The BIZ is the specialist department for career topics in the canton of Zug. We are committed to assisting young people and adults with educational transitions and career changes. We provide a range of counselling services tailored to individual needs and concerns.

Costs
Our services are free of charge for residents of the canton of Zug.
Confidentiality
All information provided during the consultation will be treated in confidence. We are bound by a duty of confidentiality.
Our counselling approach
A career, study or career path consultation is, first and foremost, a conversation in which you explore your interests and resources, whilst we get to know you. Together, we work on your career prospects and goals. We share our knowledge with you about career paths, as well as training and further education opportunities. Finally, we support you in making decisions and in figuring out how to put your plans into action.
How we do this: We ask questions and, in consultation with you, use methods such as psychometric tests and other counselling tools. These tools are developed in close collaboration with experts both within and outside universities.
In the age of AI and given the increasing number of freely available online assessments, the added value of these professional tools lies on several levels:
- Reliability and validity thanks to a scientific basis
- In-depth and integrated analysis of the profiles by counsellors
- Ongoing professional development for counsellors
- A common basis for high-quality counselling across all cantons
Our counselling services are based on the Zug Counselling Model, the Guide Model and the new national umbrella counselling concept, in which career planning skills play a central role. The counsellors at the BIZ Zug have all completed a degree (in psychology, education and other subjects) and also hold a qualification as certified career, study and career guidance counsellors.
Work experience placements and taster sessions at the BIZ
We offer work placements, apprenticeship places and taster programmes for trainee vocational, academic and career counsellors (BSLB). It is important to us that candidates have a connection to Zug and/or Central Switzerland. Please note that our work placement places are limited. It is essential that you apply for your preferred place well in advance.
Our internship places are already fully booked for the foreseeable future. We expect places to become available again from autumn 2027. If you are interested, please apply from April 2027 onwards; see below for details on how to apply.

Mon to Thu: 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Fri: 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm
Consultations:
Mon to Fri all day by appointment.
The information centre closes at 5 pm on the day before public holidays.
