Technology and Logistics
The Technology and Logistics Department is the backbone of the Police of Zug. Our employees ensure proper functioning of workstations, vehicles and equipment, and ensure that IT and communication systems work perfectly.
About us
The Technology and Logistics Department works behind the scenes and is, to some extent, the backbone of the Police of Zug. Frontline employees can effectively serve the population only when IT and communication systems are functioning perfectly, and equipment, vehicles and workplaces are well-maintained. The Project Management Office completes the Technology and Logistics Department. Such specialized divisions directly contribute to ICT and procurement projects.
Our employees in the IT, Communication and Technology (ICT) Department provide the technical equipment and more than 100 applications. They also maintain these systems and offer round-the-clock assistance in the event of technical problems. Our logistics experts manage over 1,500 items for the Zug police and actively support our emergency services during both planned and spontaneous operations. The newly introduced Project Management Office is dedicated to project portfolio management. The Project Management Office manages, supports and monitors all projects according to HERMES standards and methods.
Services of the Technology and Logistics Department
The emergency numbers 112, 117 and 118 must be accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That is why the IT Communication Technology department of the Police of Zug ensures that the IT systems are operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A highly available operations control system, the Polycom security radio network and vehicle location are available for managing operations.
For their daily police work, such as processing operations, reporting, and querying personal and vehicle data, employees have access to specialized applications of the Zug police, the canton and the federal government. A smartphone and a mobile PC workstation enable them to work on the go.
The IT Communication Technology department ensures that the police infrastructure always runs smoothly. To guarantee availability, the Zug police force has a 24-hour hotline. Outside office hours, this is covered by the on-call service.
Tasks
Among other things, the employees ensure the operation of the police radio, the operations control center, case processing and police applications such as the search database, online query apps, etc. They manage and support numerous projects to keep the technical infrastructure up to date. It is not uncommon for them to create entirely new possibilities through the use of innovation and digitization.
Procuring, managing and disposing: the Logistics Division ensures the material readiness of the corps. It equips our employees and takes care of the corps material, office supplies and vehicles. During larger operations, our logisticians ensure that our frontline forces are well fed and thus able to sustain themselves over a longer period of time.
The Logistics Division is also responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of all police stations. Our logisticians plan space requirements, furnish workplaces and implement construction projects. They work closely with the building construction office.
Our logisticians are also responsible for incoming and outgoing mail and distribute the mail. Furthermore, they ensure the mobility of the Zug police force by procuring, equipping and maintaining vehicles. They also follow and test alternative drive technologies and innovative mobility solutions.
A police officer without a uniform, handcuffs or a firearm – it's hard to imagine! Our logistics experts take care of the procurement of all uniform items and the other personal equipment of the police force. This ensures that they are ready for action – for any kind of event and in any weather conditions.

Disposing uniforms
Collectors and students often ask us if we would lend or give away official gear such as uniforms, badges or patches.
Unfortunately, we cannot give away official gear for private or commercial purposes. For one, we don’t have enough stock for rentals, and for another, we also want to prevent misuse.
We suggest contacting a costume rental company if you are interested in renting such gear.
