The I-B-A | I-B-A-20+ is for young people and adults with deficits in the German language on their way to training and career choice.

Admission conditions

I-B-A
(Integration bridging program for young people)

Young people between the ages of 14 and 20 who speak a foreign language and are willing to work in school-based forms of learning and to undergo adequate vocational training, to transfer to secondary schools and to integrate socially are accepted.

 

=> The goal is to find a suitable follow-up solution.

 

- Financial contribution:
The I-B-A is subsidized by the canton. Participants bear part of the costs themselves. Information on the costs and contributions of the I-B-A.

 

- BYOD (Bring Your Own Device):
The bridging programs belong to the secondary level II. As non-compulsory schools, we do not provide computers. The students are responsible for purchasing a device and maintaining it.

If you are being supported by the SDA Social Services for Asylum, please contact the responsible person regarding the acquisition of a device.

I-B-A-20+
(Integration Bridging Program for adults over 20 years old)

The I-B-A-20+ program is for adults (over 20 years old) migrants who are looking to enter the Swiss professional world or who would like to improve their career opportunities.
 

=> The goal is to find a suitable follow-up solution.
 

- Who can be admitted (residence permits):

  • Family reunification
  • Migrants with regular and longer-term residence (B, B-EU, C, C-EU, possibly L)
  • Temporarily admitted persons (F)
  • CH citizens with deficits in the German language (returning abroad)
  • Protection status (S)


- German language skills: Minimum requirement B1.
Common European Framework of Reference


- Working time:
Readiness to work at least 10 hours per week on the goals set with the coach.

  • Motivated to attend the program (IBA) 5 days a week or 3 days a week (I-B-A20+)
  • Open to expanding German language skills
  • Openness in the career choice process
  • Eager to learn about the culture and environment of Switzerland with joy
  • Residence permits B, B-EU, C, C-EU, F, S
  • BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
  • I-B-A-20+: Completed German language level B1

    First, inform yourself about the I-B-A and take note of the admission.

     

    Registration I-B-A

     

    Attachments / Documents for registration. Please have these documents ready, as they must be provided electronically during registration:

    • Swiss residence permit
    • Social Services potential assessment (if available)

     

     

    A start at I-B-A is possible after arrival during the offer year on the following dates:

     

    • August (week 34): Start of the offer year
    • November (weeks 46-47): Start of the 2nd trimester
    • January (week 2): Start of the calendar year
    • March (weeks 11-12): Start of the 3rd trimester

    Registration I-B-A-20+

     

    Attachments / Documents for registration. Please have these documents ready, as they must be provided electronically during registration:

     

    • Photo (portrait)
    • Swiss residence permit
    • Proof of language level B1 (German)
    • Social Services potential assessment (if available)

     

     

    Starting at I-B-A-20+ is also possible during the offer year, on the 1st of the following month.

     

     

    Procedure and process after registration:

    • You will be invited to an admission and information interview. During this, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, and the coach from I-B-A-20+ will check whether you meet the requirements for admission. If you do not have German certificates, you will need to take a German test. The time required for this conversation: 1 - 3 hours (including the German test).
    • You will receive an admission decision from I-B-A-20+. If the decision is positive, you will simultaneously receive a training agreement.
    • Before starting at I-B-A-20+, you will complete a portfolio task. Bring your documents on the first day. These will form the basis for your personal goals and your personal portfolio.
