The Veterinary Service protects the health of farm animals, pets and zoo animals.
Its responsibilities include preventing and controlling animal diseases, monitoring animal movements, overseeing the disposal of animal by-products, and enforcing animal welfare legislation.
The service also advises animal owners, investigates incidents involving dogs, authorises animal experiments, supervises veterinary professionals and inspects slaughterhouses.
