About us
The Office for Sports and Health Promotion leads and coordinates a range of sports and exercise activities tailored to individual needs, along with health promotion initiatives. Our goal is to improve the healthcare resources and quality of life for people of all ages in Zug. To achieve this, we strategically leverage our expertise and experience in exercise, sports, nutrition and mental health.
- We implement initiatives in the areas of exercise, nutrition, mental health and tobacco prevention, and coordinate those of various partners.
- We implement the national program ‘Youth and Sports’ with advanced training sessions, youth sports camps, and the 1418coach program. We also provide financial support to up-and-coming sportspersons in Zug.
- We grant financial aid to sports clubs, schools and other sports and exercise institutions. We also offer advice, training and development programs to sports leaders and teachers.
- We leverage our public relations work (e.g. social media) to motivate and educate the people of Zug on health-related topics and highlight specific offerings. We also connect with specialists in the canton who are involved in sports and health promotion. Furthermore, we evaluate, improve and integrate existing measures.
While some of the listed measures are implemented by the canton, others are developed in close cooperation with other cantonal offices, national organizations, non-profit organizations and external project partners.
