We use commodity articles every day. Commodity articles, as defined by food legislation, are products that come into contact with the human body or are food products. This includes cosmetics, tableware or food packaging.

The focus of the Food Inspection Department is to ensure food safety, adhering to the regulations outlined in the Swiss food legislation. The cantons are responsible for enforcing the legislation. They are tasked with monitoring the entire food chain from production to transportation, product processing and distribution to consumption.
